Whilst a large number of wines contain far more preservative than necessary, I personally believe a small amount to be beneficial in most cases, in order to prevent microbial spoilage. I do not believe there to be a large range of good quality preservative-free wines on the market to be honest, particularly in white wines. This being said, there are at least some good preservative-free wines available, most of which are meant for early drinking, but some of which will actually age for a considerable time even without preservative. I carry only those preservative-free wines that I deem to be of high quality. There may be others available that I have not tried, and if so I would love to know of them. I will also point out here, that most organic wines DO contain preservative, albeit being in minimal quantities usually. Some preservative-free wines are coincidentally organic and others are not.
